Barbara Gebhardt, President, Opus Staffing

Barbara GebhardtBarbara is the founder and president of Opus Staffing, a New York based search firm with a focus which includes office clerical through executive support, human resources, and other specialized professional staffing. Its scientific division, which serves clients throughout the United States, provides temporary and contract staffing, contract to hire and direct hire staffing to the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, cosmetic, chemical, environmental and other scientific intensive industries that require skilled talent.

Prior to founding Opus Staffing, Barbara was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Career Blazers, responsible for all company operations while simultaneously operating its first franchise on Long Island.

Gebhardt serves in a variety of leadership roles throughout the New York metropolitan area. She serves on the regional board of the American Heart Association and is active in its Go Red Movement. She also serves on the board of the New York Biotechnology Association. She has served as Vice President of the Long Island Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association and as President of the Advisory Council for the National Council for the Aging. She served on the board of the New York Staffing Association and is a past president of the Association of Personnel Consultants, Long Island Chapter.

In 2008, Gebhardt received The Alternative Boards Most Accomplished Member Award and was selected as one of the most influential women in business on Long Island by Long Island Business News. She was a recipient of the New York State Jenkins Award for distinguished service to the Half Hollow Hills School District PTA. Gebhardt works with Stony Brook University Office of Corporate Education and Training to develop and deliver training in skills training required by Long Island employers.

Marianna Savoca, Director of Career Center, Stony Brook University

Marianna SavocaMarianna Savoca is the Director of the Career Center at Stony Brook University SUNY, Long Island, NY. The Stony Brook Career Center provides centralized and comprehensive career services to a diverse student body of 23,000 and is recognized as a best practice unit on campus and among colleagues in the career services profession. The Career Center supports students in every phase of career development: exploration, experiential learning (including but not limited to community service and internships), decision-making, planning, preparation and polish.

As Director, Marianna is engaged in planning, assessment and evaluation, employer/public relations, resource development, staff mentoring, student advising and teaching. She looks for opportunities to reach organizations to develop recruitment relationships and connect students to the opportunities that exist within those organizations. She leads an outstanding team of dedicated professionals who strive for excellence and routinely go above and beyond to achieve successful outcomes.

Her professional involvement includes leadership roles in the National Society for Experiential Education, the National Association of Colleges&Employers, and the SUNY Career Development Organization. She has also consulted for career services units at public and private institutions in the northeast.

Marianna is a Fulbright recipient, Seminar for International Educators in Germany. Excellence in Professional Service award by Stony Brook University President and SUNY Chancellor. She has received the EACE Outstanding Service Award and the NSEE Rising Leader award.

Marianna earned a M.S. from Indiana University and a B.S. from SUNY Binghamton, and is a recipient of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service.

Tony Wilson, Sr. Director, Marketing, AFCO Systems

Tony Wilson is a Marketing professional with experience in business-to-business marketing for technology solutions.

Currently Tony is Sr. Director of Marketing for AFCO Systems, a leader in Green Data Center Enclosure Solutions. AFCO Systems is the provider of choice for top-tier financial, broadcast and co-lo/cloud computing companies. AFCO provides enclosure solutions that provide IT and facilities management teams with systems to effectively control their power and cooling resources. His responsibilities include product marketing and management, business development programs, and marketing communications.

Prior to working at AFCO, Tony managed corporate and marketing communications for Symbol Technologies, and directed marketing for the international division while being based in the UK. His background also includes developing award winning technical training programs for NEC America, and supporting the rollout of the nation's largest ATM network with Citigroup's Systems Division.

Tony holds an MBA from Adelphi University and a BA from Allegheny College.

Terri Alessi - Miceli, President, Hauppauge Industrial Association, Long Island

Terri Alessi - MiceliAs President of the Hauppauge Industrial Association-Long Island, Terri Alessi-Miceli runs the 32 year young 1,000 company member organization with more than 4,500 individual members focusing on their business development and growth. The Association also represents the second largest industrial park in the country and has active committees that provide business programs, services and events to help its members thrive. Alessi-Miceli, along with the HIA-LI board, has implemented new streams for increased exposure and revenue for the association.

The Association was instrumental in orchestrating the Hauppauge Industrial Park's Connectivity Project to update the technology infrastructure of the industrial park, allowing its companies to compete on a global scale. Under Alessi-Miceli's guidance, the HIA-LI is playing a vital role in Suffolk County's view of the transportation issues facing the industrial park. The HIA-LI is also a major force in the HIA-LI's Business Trade Show and Conference, which set records for business participation and is a major economic engine on Long Island.

Alessi-Miceli had previously been the Managing Director of Dale Carnegie Training for more than 18 years and was responsible for the profitability and productivity of the instructional and sales team in this premiere corporate education organization.

An honored member of Strathmore's Who's Who for 2002-2003, Alessi-Miceli is also a former board member of the Suffolk County Girl Scout Council. She has been featured in such publications as Newsday, Networking Magazine, Smithtown News and Long Island Business News and appeared on television's Channel 12 Jobline as an expert in Organizational Change and Motivation. In 2006, she was honored with the Harry Chapin Humanitarian award for HIA - LI's work with Long Island Cares as the second largest contributor to the their annual food drive as well as her personal work with their Dress for Success program, and training women in interviewing and self confidence. In 2005, she was also honored as one of Long Island Business News' Top 50 Women Professionals on Long Island. Her community involvement has included a commitment as a religion school teacher and working with the Big Brother/ Big Sister organization.
