Clean Tech has become the subject of many new national, regional and local initiatives by Government, Business, Industry, Academia, Professional and Trade Associations. Although there is no standard definition for Green or CleanTech, it is generally described as a diverse range of products, services, and processes that harness renewable energy sources, promote energy efficiency solutions and use sustainable materials and processes that dramatically reduce energy expenditure, preserve natural resources, and cut or eliminate emissions and wastes.

The CleanTech QuickStartTM Program was created to introduce the program participants to the rapidly emerging and diverse opportunities available in the CleanTech Industry.

Designed to provide the Student intern with a solid foundation of Clean Tech knowledge, skills and know-how, the program combines an educational component, including reading materials and experiential learning projects, with networking and other events that will give the participant exposure to industry professionals in Clean Tech businesses and organizations. This comprehensive, rigorous program is designed to provide the participants with a distinct competitive advantage in Clean Tech, and students will work as part of a team alongside seasoned Professionals preparing and qualifying them for entry into the Clean Tech industry.

The volunteer program will provide the intern with exciting learning opportunities on local and NY State-based projects in one or more of the following categories:

  • Solar, Bio Fuels, Wind, Hydro, Geothermal, Tidal, Hydrogen Economy
  • Battery/Energy Storage/Fuel Cells/Load Management
  • Smart Grid, Intelligent Transmission&Distribution and Cyber security
  • Wireless Energy Applications
  • Low Carbon Society, Climate Change&Sustainable Building
  • Energy Efficient Data Centers and Green IT
  • Intelligent and Advanced Transportation
  • Energy Policy, Energy Sector Finance and Economics

The Comprehensive Program Includes:

  • Experiential Learning through work on a CleanTech Research Project
  • Weekly Team meetings, seminars and networking events
  • Tours and field trips to Clean Tech Companies

Admission Requirements for Students – Undergraduate and Graduate

  • Superior academic achievement with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated students must be performing very well academically (3.0 or better) and have some work or volunteer experience
  • A commitment to being an active participant in the Program
